"A while ago an idea emerged in our ranks. Even though there are many ways to entertain oneself in the capital, there are still not enough cultural events taking place, even as artists are starved for money and audience. Thus we have decided to form a society for the appreciation of fine arts! Each member pays a modest monthly fee, and in return gets to vote which event the society should fund each month. Just imagine: the community will finally be able to organize exhibitions, performances, philosophical debates, concerts – and do this all on its own! We will inspire our friends and neighbors – but in order to provide an adequate reward for our most distinguished artists, we shall need to attract more members, and increase our funds."
