Under all that pressure, the ancient masonry gave out before our air did. After several moments, the streams of water and mud pouring from the ceiling cut off, and drains in the floor opened up. A minute or two later, all the water, the fish, the mud, and even an irritated eel had disappeared somewhere into underground pipes.
