He had made it halfway down when we discovered that one of the knots had been poorly tied — it came undone, dropping into the chasm! Fortunately, the fall wasn't as bad as that of the unknown traveler still lying at the bottom of the gorge... We retied the knot (better this time!) and continued making our way down.
