An art most formidable, it grants its practitioner power over nature, and even over that which beyond nature lies; he who has mastered it fully shall become like the gods, yet woe be unto he who sets about its study without diligence and zeal, for his days are numbered. The path ahead is perilous and arduous in equal measure, and he who sets his foot upon it heedlessly shall not find wisdom, but only a quick and grisly end."
